EYES Pilot - Rough Cut 10

Here I have done colour grading on all the shots, but I still need to have a fiddle because some of them are still not quite right and some still need brightening up slightly. You probably will not be able to tell the difference, but I promise you I have done the grading and the shots look a hell of a lot better than they did originally. Also, YouTube darkens the picture somewhat after they have processed the video on their servers, so that is something I am going to have to compensate for in future.

There is also a new addition, right around the 4:30 mark - it looks unreal!

EYES Pilot: Sound Design (Rough Cut 1)

Due to various technical problems, Daniel was not able to produce a version of the second rough cut with any sound design. Therefore, what follows is the work Daniel has already done for the first rough cut. As the second rough cut is my indication of what the final cut will look like, this should be seen as a demonstration of the direction the sound will go in for the final cut.

The Springpad Notebooks

Springpad is something that I have been using a for about two years now, as I read a lot of online articles I find it to be a very good tool for storing the articles I would like to reference later on. Therefore, I have used it to store resources on all of my University work and I have been using it to keep track of all the resources and research I have done for the EYES project and the Creative Enterprise Project module. To this end, I consider the Springpad notebooks to form a part of my project's appendix and they should be reviewed as such!

The notebooks and their items can be viewed in the following embedded windows. Alternatively, you can view my Springpad homepage.

Below I have also embedded the notebooks for my two other final year modules: Documentary Making and Film Dissertation, as the research I did for these has had a very direct impact on the work I have done as part of the Creative Enterprise Module, and vice versa.

Sound and Lighting Tests: Upper Weir - 21/02/2013

Following on from my initial technical concerns about lighting and sound recording on the Upper Weir location (11/02/2013 Test Footage & 12/02/2013 Test Footage), I conducted some research into the University's equipment (for the sound) and elsewhere for the lighting (see below).

While looking for a solution to my lighting problem, I came across the above video and liked the very simple and surprisingly satisfactory result it offered. Following the videos guidance I invested in an LED torch and nabbed some gel paper (you place this over the bulbs to soften the light and to stop it from your blinding your performers) from the Broadcast Lab equipment cupboard.

Last night, together with Tish and Matt, I conducted some sound and lighting tests at the Upper Weir location trying out the solutions I found. I did this to determine what would be the best microphone, camera, settings and lighting rig to use in order to achieve the results I want from the shoot.

Following the results, I have decided to use the LED light and the Radio mics for the sound.

The videos below should be pretty self-explanatory.
