The Truth about Online Content

Came across this while I was doing some research for my dissertation and it certainly made for an interesting watch. It only goes to show that the online content definitely has a future. It is also encouraging to know that an audience is much more accessible via online means, opposed to having to promote  project and source your audience from the real world.

Berberian Sound Studio

Daniel Tapper, the sound designer for EYES, suggested this to me. LOVEFiLM finally sent this to me yesterday and I watched it last night - I was completely blown away by it! This is a truly amazing film that has a lot to say about the magisterial power of cinema. Not since Attack of the Killer Tomatoes has a film made food so terrifying to watch (I mean this as a genuine compliment).

Daniel suggested it to me because he said it had a very David Lynch feel to it and, in many ways, reminded him of my concept for EYES. I am so pleased I finally watched this and have no doubt that it will influence how I edit the Pilot and how Daniel and myself construct the soundtrack.

Below is Mark Kermode's review for Berberian Sound Studio. For me, his review really sums up why the film is brilliant.

Solving 3 Rubik Cubes while Juggling

I came across this today.

Three Rubik cubes, like we had for filming the Pilot, and the same make of Rubik cube we used for the Pilot. Above and beyond how amazing this is, I would hate to film it backwards!

This is also oddly simbolic of my current workload.

SpaLife Filming

Tonight, I did some filming for the Bath Literature Festival - the Quite Literate event. Yeah, it was okay.

Directing: Film Techniques and Aesthetics

I've been reading this book since starting the creative enterprise project module and its content has proven invaluable.

The Filmmaker's Handbook

As ever, this book is proving to be a huge help. I originally invested in this for Planning and Making a Film and it has been used continuously since then.

EYES Preproduction Meetings - Clarity

I would just like to make it clear that regardless of the fact Matt (my co-producer) has only produced one minutes of the meeting document for one of the EYES preproduction meetings, there were actually five preproduction meetings for EYES (see my Time Invested Log Sheet)!

This is slightly annoying when you consider how many documents I put together for Remember This.

EYES Vlog Update 6: Technical Concerns

In these vlogs I discuss some of the technical concerns I've had in regards to filming, the test I've done to explore these problems and the solutions I'm going to implement to illuminate them when we do actually film the Pilot.

For best results put the video qualities up to 1080p.
